1471 gives my own number.

Just had a call on my land line claiming to be amazon, saying my card will be charged £550 for an iPhone13.
Obivious scam as I don't have a card or account.
I dialled 1471 to get a number to report it and the the system told me that the call was from my land line number.
Has anyone else experienced this?

When I ran an IT department, I could programme the PBX to show a call coming from any number I wanted.0

99% of the time this is of benefit to everyone, the call centre agent working for DLG can click to call a Direct Line customer and it shows the Direct Line customer service number, next call is to a Churchill customer and so the system shows the Churchill customer service number or if they are moonlighting for claims then it shows the Churchill's claim number. Customer misses the call they have a meaningful number to call back.
In a small minority of cases its misused as you've found out. I your case they've simply set their system such when they call number 1234 it caller IDs as 1234.1
