Travel insurance with pre-existing medical conditions

My wife and I have a packaged bank account with Nationwide which includes travel insurance. I have now reached the magic age of 70, so we need to pay the age supplement or change bank account (not a problem in itself). However, we both now have pre-existing medical conditions. I'm wondering if the packaged bank account route is any longer the best bet, or if we would be better going with one of the travel insurers suggested by MSE for those with pre-existing medical conditions.

I'd be grateful to share anyone's experience or suggestions.

Depends on your condition(s)... we are notably younger but have a few medical conditions between us and the packaged travel insurance with Barclays (Aviva underwritten) are willing to cover them all without any additional charges.

I have similar with Barclays. Between me and the OH we have built up quite a list but most are covered, only a few aren't and we don't consider them likely to have an impact on any trips. Depends how much you pay, but one of the benefits of the bank package for me is that it's cheaper than any other 12 month policy I've seen, and we're covered from the moment we book. Mine is £12.50 a month for the travel pack which also includes Break down cover - the break down cover is the main reason I have the pack to be fair.

    Correct.
We have Co-op Bank Rewards (£15 a month) and have travel insurance until age 80 - including cover for minor existing conditions at no extra cost. I have no hesitation in recommending.
Incidentally, I think your existing cover continues until your 71st birthday - worth checking.
There is a whole range of acceptable pre existing conditions which travel insurers will cover as above.
Obviously you need to talk to your prospective new insurer about your specific conditions.
