Morning
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light, dry underfoot but cloudy air feels much fresher and more comfortable. Wash load in WM.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was gammon, egg, new potatoes, salad and coleslaw. Not sure about tonight but my half day today so will pick something up after work.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks, thanks for starting us off nmlc.Yesterday was glorious until about 4.00p.m. when the heavens opened for a short but really heavy rain burst. Maybe because I watered my garden before I left. 😀 The drive down to Glasgow was very quick though I was puzzled about the enormous amount of traffic coming up, then realised that there was Highland Games at Inveraray Castle.Once in Glasgow I went to my favourite CS to unload the car, did a tip trip and then had my dental appointment. I was back on the road home by 1.00p.m. Meanwhile my neighbour had been in to remove the second sofa, so when I arrived back I was able to clear out all the junk from the cupboard. This morning my new furniture is due between 8.30 and 10.30a.m. 🎉🎉 They've been a long time coming. No scorching sun today, so far it's a pleasant 18 degrees with lots of clouds. I'll be having egg salad for lunch as there's bits and pieces in the fridge which need used up. I didn't do any food shopping in Glasgow this time.I hope that all those in much hotter places coped OK and managed to keep cool. Happy Wednesday to all.13

Morning all
Yesterday was so hot again into the 40's again I was so uncomfortable at work, we did get away 1/2 hr earlier which was nice, today is going to be cooler only up to 23 deg which will be so much easier to work in.
I finally handed my notice in yesterday
this has been such a long time coming it was such a relief finally doing it ! I leave on the 19th August so I have to go back for two days after my holiday but thats fine, the end is in sight now !
Ive got the dentist this afternoon and hopefully they can fix my broken tooth so I will need to leave work an hour early but they owe me some time so shouldnt be a problem.
We did not have the quiche last night as dd made tacos so we will have it tonight and possibly tomorrow I made a big one so should do a few meals.
Gers happy new sofa day ! xxx
Have good days all xxx13 -
Morning all. Thankfully cooler and breezy here so far.
Ruby: congratulations on finally handing in your notice. As you say, such a relief and I hope everything goes as planned for you now.
Today is my session helping at the Community Larder so need to be up there earlyish to help unload the food. I haven't been for a few weeks because of various things happening at home so it will be like starting all over again.
I'll put the oven on today as we're having some belly pork, which DH wants roasted in hoisin sauce. We have plenty of strawberries left to eat up too.
I've got emails etc to catch up on now as it's just been too hot to have the laptop on and concentrate on things so have a good day everyone.12 -
Hi everyone,
Woo hoo Ruby, celebrations are in order although I should think you are exhausted from working in all that heat.
Talking of which, I hoped you are ok as well Izzy.
I'm enjoying sitting in a cool breeze although the temperature is forecast to go back up to 28, maybe it will feel cool after the last two days. We collected Esben from nursery at 12 and he had a long nap on the settee in front of a water cooled fan, I was very envious.
I haven't got much planned for today, catching up with the washing that I haven't done over the last couple of days and tidy up the debris that I didn't get round to last night.
Have a good day.12 -
Morning everyone
Yesterday was glorious here though rather hot...I sat outside until after 8pm again.
We seem to have had rain through the night probably cos I'd spent ages watering!
It's forecast to be a bit cooler today so hopefully the kids at nursery will get outside today.
I need to go for some shopping and then have work at lunchtime.
Congratulations Ruby....i bet it was a relief
Gers - happy new sofas day!
Have a good day everyone x9 -
Morning everyone congratulations Ruby the end is in sight happy new sofas day Gers.thank god yesterday is over with I have had a bad head al night it’s cleared now and I had plenty to drink but the heat was horrible to hot to work in that but it’s cooler today I’m not at work until 12 I’ve been to Lidl I need to pop to the library and drop my books off and then I will walk up to the pet shop she needs some treats although I could send the dog herself I just let her off at the bottom of the street and she makes her way up she is quite often having a conversation with the owner when I get there they all know her if she could only use a bank card I don’t need to bother. I have got a couple of chicken breasts out for tonight that will be with salad nice and easy . We have got a neighbour’s little dog staying with us at the minute a little black curly mop he’s no bother but you can hear him snoring in the next town no wonder I have a headache so they will be both be pleased it’s cooler neither of them were impressed with the water we have been putting on them but it was only for there own good but they both love the rain and puddles spoilt dogs .thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing9

They are all now going to go into a cool wash and then will be given to a CS. The box is useful as it has a wee rack at the bottom for shoes, it was made for me so it can stay. The delivery bloke has phoned, he's close but 'lost', I can't phone him back as he probably hasn't got a signal anymore.

Hope he finds you Gers x8

Morning all. Have been AWOL again but have been reading along and keeping up with everyone's news.
Congratulations Ruby, shame you have to go in for two days after your holidays but what the heck, you're nearly there. Good luck.
Happy new sofa day Gers - hope the "lost" delivery guy turns up soon.
It's been sooooo hot this last few days and even though it's supposed to be a bit cooler today the temperature in my living room (the coolest room in the house) is still showing 26.6c. I'm normally a good sleeper but the last two nights have been - shall we say - a challenge. I'm glad we cancelled our health review appointments for yesterday, we'd have melted somewhere along the way. As it is, we both got texts yesterday morning asking patients not to contact the surgery unless absolutely necessary as they're experiencing staff absences (medical and admin) due to sickness. If we hadn't cancelled, I think they may well have done.
Meals have been a bit haphazard over the last few days because of the heat, so it's been little and often, as and when we've fancied something, mainly salad, ice cream and lots of water. I have some chicken drumsticks to cook in the SC today and there should be enough meat on them for a couple of meals each. I need to top up on milk and salad stuff either today or tomorrow, just need to find the energy!
Have a good day whatever you're doing and stay cool. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.9 -

They worked so hard to get the sofas through the door. Now just waiting for the bloke up the hill to bring his quad down to remove my recliner and get the new chair in place.I'm more relaxed now that it's almost over.10
