DLA taking forever

I first called for the forms at the beginning of April and so far received acknowledge letter and another letter saying that they are still making a decision.
It is going to be 5 months soon.
Is this normal? Are we close to have a decision? Should I call and enquire even though they tell not to?
How long did you have to wait?
What is the maximum waiting time?

There is no maximum waiting time.
Just long delays at the DWP, so approaching 4 months (from ordering the forms) is not unusual atm.
What evidence did you supply with the form?
Any award will be backdated to when you ordered the form.Alice Holt Forest situated some 4 miles south of Farnham forms the most northerly gateway to the South Downs National Park.1 -
It’s taking forever, friends child Dla took 6 months, his carers allowance claim has just gone over 13 months and still no decision.0

I assume the backlogs are due to covid??
What sort of timescales did the dwp work to before.?
Has there been any political committment to resolve the backlogs?
On a personal note we have applied for pip for my wife who is terminally ill, six months later still nothing. Poor state of affairs in my opinion.

If so then those waiting times are not acceptable! I would be contacting my local MP.Claiming through the normal route and yes backlogs are several months, sometimes longer.1 -

If your medical team are willing to issue a DS1500 the claim is usually processed within three weeks.
If the illness is one that cannot be cured and therefore terminal in that it is likely to cause death but the timescale is longer such that the medical team would be surprised if death occurred within the 6 month timescale then it doesn’t get treated as terminal by DWP.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.1 -
