Together Energy & British Gas
Options
Hello,
I was with Together Energy and, as you know, British Gas took over the accounts when TG went into administration. I have paid my BG bills and my account is all up to date.
A couple of months ago I received a bill from TG but it didn't say what it was for or who to contact. When I clicked the link in the email the response was a 404 error because the page on the website was missing, so I put this down to a glitch from a company that can gone under and was still sending out automated emails to customers in some abandoned database.
However, today I received another mailshot from TG say I owed an eye-watering amount as a 'final bill' and yet I was paying them regular amounts by DD every month right up until Feb 2022 when BG took over. The DD amounts were set by TG so presumably they had calculated what was needed.
Has anyone else received a massive final bill? And why?

In most cases, a larger than expected final bill is the result of not using accurate meter readings to produce earlier bills... check the most recent bill you have before their failure and see if it was based on a real meter reading or an estimate...

Have a similar problem , email demanding money and threatening debt collectors , no final bill, BG can’t help. From the FB group together energy customer support , many people in the same boat.0

I've just done some further checks. The monthly amount to TG doubled in September 2021. The final bill amount is more than double all of 2021's payments.
I've managed to log in to the TG old portal website but the link to the bills returns a 'email support' message. The new TG portal doesn't even recognise my email address.
I have emailed support as it's the only option.0 -
Does the final meter reading the TG bill match the opening meter reading with BG? are accurate reads or estimated?
Does the opening meter reading match the final reading of the previous provider?
That the bill is double your payments on its own just means that your direct debit was to low, important is if the KWh billed are correct.0 -
I managed to find a phone number and spoke to TE today 0141 84661520

T.E billing was a mess when I was briefly with them in 2018 til early 2019 when SOLR'd from One Select..
They had 6 goes at producing a final bill ,none of which was correct in terms of carried forward credit from previous supplier ,or final meter read when I moved away.
I'd be inclined to look up the "prove it" letters elsewhere on these forums and refuse to engage until/unless they produce a fully itemised bill that agrees with your records.0 -

In view of their dreadful performance when still trading , I suspect that someone working for the administrators has just scraped the T.E databases for negative balances and listed them without investigating whether they are genuine or not, and then set the dogs on the customers !!0 -
