REFUND

I notified Eon Next on 21st June 2022 that I had moved house & asked to keep them as my energy supplier as I was already on a good fixed tariff.  They emailed me the same day, confirming the changes & sent my final account for previous property.   I was nearly £700 in credit & their email stated that I would receive this by 6th July. I was also told my new D/D amount which is obviously a bit lower than previously!
when I contacted Eon Next on 8th July to inform them I had not received the refund they raised a complaint.  On 12th July they raised a second complaint & on 18th July I was told over the phone that the refund would take 10 working days from the last complaint.   I checked with Ofgem who state that refunds should be made within 10 working days of final account.   Assuming they were telling the truth & that I would receive my refund by 6th July,  I’ve spent the money on new sofas and now have a credit card bill I can’t pay!  The team leader I speak to on the phone really seems to be doing his best for me but their finance department won’t budge - apparently they’re short staffed & I have to join the queue for refunds.  I really feel I’m being fobbed off - I can transfer funds in less than a minute so why can’t Eon Next?Apparently I can claim compensation but they can’t (or won’t) tell me how much.   Any suggestions as to how I can move this along a bit faster?

The compensation for not paying within the 10 days is £30 as per Ofgem web site.

Hopefully you did register with the existing provider at your new address before switching back to E.ON Next? ...or you may have more bad news in the future...

Hi and welcome to the forum.

That is not great news but can I ask have you used the Eon Next forum to discuss this as they do have Eon Next staff on there to get things done.

Lastly you mentioned you were on a fixed rate have Eon Next let you transfer it to your new property. The reason I ask is this is a big plus for them if they have as not may energy suppliers let you do that now.

Hopefully you registered with the provider who was already supplying the property you moved to, before starting the switch back to Eon?

I'm very surprised that you were able to move a fixed tariff from one property to another - they typically end the fixed tariff as soon as you say you are moving providers. What provider did your new property have when you moved in? You may find that your credit could have been sent to them? and then you switched again back to eon so I was expect an intermim bill also.

    That isn't how it works.

There are a few providers that will allow it if you ask.

@Astria The credit is always sent to the customer, never the new provider.

Thank you for all your comments - all is now sorted.   The same day that I posted on this forum Eon Next refunded me the full amount and we agreed a credit of £75 on my account!
