Car Tax Refund

I PX'd my car for a newer one 4th this month, within a week I received a cheque, refund for the car tax, I tried to pay it in via my Bank App on my phone first scan sent an error code and said to scan again, which I did, but then it gave the same error code, I tried it one last time, this time it told me the cheque had already been paid in.

Normally if you pay a cheque in, it shows in your account, nothing showed up when i looked via the app, when I check in the app what cheques have been paid into my account, it just throws me out and I have to log in again I phoned the bank the following morning who looked and could not see it had been paid in and advised me to go to the local bank.  I went to the Bank that afternoon, they told me to try and use the machine, the cheque would not go through, they sent me to the desk who also tried to put the cheque through it still would not go through, when she checked why she said that the reason it wont go through is because its been recognised as already gone through an account. told me to phone DVLA.

I waited 3 days before i rung DVLA just to make sure the money did not drop into my account.

DVLA , when I rung them and explained that when I tried to put the cheque in, my bank said it had already been put through an account, the lady asked who's name the cheque was in, when I told here it was mine, she was rather rude and told me that the cheque could only of gone into my account (it still was not showing in my account) I told her that i was not prepared to keep going back and forth from DVLA to the Bank and back again, she said she would send another cheque out but it could take up to 4 weeks.

I presume to make sure it has not been cashed, now the bank has already told me its gone through the system, but it is not showing in my account its been 8 days now.

My question is If I do not receive another cheque from DVLA, who would I need to go after, DVLA or the bank (I do feel there is a glitch in the App and it is sitting in limbo somewhere), I still have the original cheque as the bank gave that back to me (after they made a phone call to check first), I just don't fancy a fight on my hands, but am not walking away from what should be mine.

I think this is more a banking question than a motoring one, but I suspect the problem is with your bank (and one of your attempts at paying it in actually "working" in some way) - seems implausible that someone other than you has somehow paid it into their account.

I agree, I think it is the bank, but the bank would not accept it is their fault and directed me back to DVLA,  then DVLA said it could only go into the bank of the named person on the cheque, i can just see it bouncing backwards and forwards, I may try the bank again in a few days time.
