Keep that permission safe for the next 7 years just in case

I suspect that like many companies, they probably depreciate the asset over 3-4 years life, and so its not worth enough on the books to reclaim.Peter

Laptops don't just depreciate over 3-4 years for accounting reasons, they become technologically obsolete. The majority of work laptops are fairly underpowered to begin with as they are not being called on to do much (unless you are an architect working with CAD or a game designer or something) so they buy cheap, and after 3 years very few people would want to buy them for more than an absolute pittance as they will struggle to run any modern software. Most low end laptops are on the verge of obsolescence when you buy them new - that's why they are low end.nyermen said:Keep that permission safe for the next 7 years just in case

I have just been made redundant and as my laptop is old and all staff who are kept on are being given brand new laptops I was told I could keep mine
This fact was included in my final letter and the laptop was wiped by IT yesterday
Now I just need to add all my own bits on it have done macafee
