For those unsure about what was happening, it’s in the original post…

As I'm backing into the space, another car tries go around the front of me and scrape the side of their car across the corner of my bumper.

Again, that doesn't answer the questions that have been posed regarding whether the OP had stopped and the other driver drove into him for no reason (unlikely), or whether he was still reversing round and essentially into the path of the TP.

That doesn't tell us from which direction the TP was approaching.
You'd assume behind as the OP felt it necessary to explicitly point out they looked behind before commencing their manoeuvre and saw it was clear

If the OP was reversing into a parking bay, it sounds like the other car tried to pass while the OP was still reversing into the bay. That would make it seem to me to be TP at fault.  If the OP was adjusting, that might change the fault.

    I'd say more like 50/50.

Reversong into a gap yesterday in a multi storey - nothing in sight when a car suddenly came and was not going to stop even though I was blocking the lane.
More to do with how some drive these days - get out of my way. If I put the camera on playback there really are some idiots about - Double white lines - meaningless - Speed limits meaningless. On the top road it goes from 50mph to 30mph  and I have lost count of the number of cars that pass me to be greeted by a speed camera.
