Sold car without get buyers address

To be honest, we really don't want the car back. It's worth about a grand but all the hassle that could come after it isn't worth getting it back and selling it again. Plus we have already wrote to the DVLA to take wife of the registration. It was a silly thing of us not to get the details but our mum wanted the car gone as it's upsetting her.0

I know it's a bit late now but for next time it's a good idea to tell the DVLA online as soon as the money is handed over. It doesn't matter what happens to it after that. You get an email within a couple of hours confirming that you're no longer the registered keeper.1

Seems like we are ok, police came round yesterday. Really understanding. Gave us a crime reference number as the car was actually burnt out. They told us we are not responsible for any costs as we sold the car and there will be no come back on us. Lesson learnt. Thanks for everyone's advise4
