Santander or HSBC?

I'm already with Lloyds, don't trust Natwest or Metro and already had Barclays in the past.

Which is the best for a savings account, Santander or HSBS?

Is this just like for savings?
If so, answer is neither, interest rates offered by the high Street banks are atrocious.

..I tried HSBC once but their on line system was really !!!!!! so I gave up and stayed with Santander as in general  their online stuff is really easy to use...

Santander pay 2.5% on their regular saver, but First Direct pay 3.5% if your opening a new account.

The only one that's even remotely competitive is the Santander Regular saver, for better options see the links above.

Both are FSCS protected, so whichever has the highest/best interest rate for your circumstances.

However (and as others have said), better rates are available with other banks!

Neither. Santander Lite for the cashback but if I hadn't already had the account I wouldn't bother. The RS is OK. Never been tempted by HSBC, the RS was OK but a high bar to entry and I cba

Outside the Regular Savers they are both very poor for savings. Cast your net a lot wider
