Smart Meter in apartment not working

I have a Scottish Power Smart meter which only works sporadically. I'm unable to monitor useage in the live environment. I suspect the signal from the communal area os not reaching my 1st floor apartment. Does anyone know if Scottish Power have any plans to resolve these issues? I suspect it affects many flat/apartment owners.

There will be a distance issue from smart meter to In Home Display in flats if the smart meters is positioned far away from the IHD.

Would the bright app provide what you need? Great little app but not live data.

There are industry plans to role out Alt-Han to deal with these issues - new installs only or retrospectively is a matter for speculation.

I should add that there is no such thing as a Scottish Power smart meter. Yes, Scottish Power is responsible for your smart meter today but responsibility moves as you switch suppliers.

With the greatest of respect there may be technical solutions to the issue , but I very much doubt that the suppliers will want to pay to apply it !!!

I am not sure that suppliers are paying for anything. The cost of the rollout is being added to consumer bills. I note that BEIS hasn’t updated the Smart Meter Business Plan for sometime. I guess that the Government is hoping that any overspend will be seen as peanuts when compared to the London Olympics; CrossRail and HS2.

May be true but hearsay suggests that the meter fitters (generally ) won't tackle anything in the "too difficult! " box. Suggests to me that the fitters have targets for time spent on an install and get penalised if they don't complete x per day!!

So the smart meter is working fine, it's just the IHD that has issues?

Have you downloaded the bulb app?
The OP looks to be with Scottish Power, not Bulb.

I assume @Mstty was referring to Bright, not Bulb.
