renting after dro
Options
Hi
I had a dro a few years back and still have about 2.5 years till it drops of my credit report.
Am i going to run into issues when trying to rent? Im currently still renting the house i had when i got the dro but now may need to move, i have never missed one payment on my rent and have since took another credit card out and never missed a payment but my credit score is still low
Would i fail the credit check for renting , Would i be running into alot of issues trying to rent ? Would i maybe just need a guarantor or extra deposit?
This would be through letting/estate agents and private most likely would not be a option
Anyone done this before or knows the process??

I was recently looking at renting with an IVA that was started in September 2017 and settled in January 2022, and was told by one agent flat out I wouldn't be accepted under any conditions, one that I could be accepted with a guarantor, and one that it wouldn't be an issue. Six years of tenancy and a salary way beyond their affordability calculation made no difference.
Might be worth anonymously ringing agents in your area to find out how they approach it, then you know which options to remove from your search.
I dont think they're allowed to charge extra deposits or fees these days.My debt-free diary: Go your own way
