which providers are taking the money back? Have you noticed if they are taking much more money than they should?
I topped up extra before April but I missed Martin's post saying some providers would take the money back in arrears . Last week I had to top up first time since late March and I've noticed everyday it's taking more than £2 a day while before was about 80p , so this is more than the said 50% increase said . I'm with SSE

Check the meter display to see if they have added a debt to the meter? Also check the kWh and standing charge information to make sure it is correct, then take meter readings at the same time each day for a few days so you can see what you are using.0

I'm with British Gas and yet to find out, still have £119 electric on meter and £90 on key, I estimate it will be about November before I use the key at the shop again.0

I asked SSE and they said they won't take the money back... I have checked my meter going through the blue button and I don't see anything as debt ... but this price increase since higher than anticipated.. higher than what it says on the letter received from SSE ..I don't even want to think about October0

Are you looking at the kWh and standing charge costs and seeing something higher than the SSE letter? ... or are you still just comparing the monetary amount it is costing you each day?borderline said:... but this price increase since higher than anticipated.. higher than what it says on the letter received from SSE ..I don't even want to think about October

the KWh on the letter and the meter seems to match at 28.20pMWT said:

screen F , it says £3.30 charge/week.. F is for "The total amount you pay each week for standing charge and debt recovery (if applicable)." I think that's about right too.
Of course it costs more now but it seems that it's draining more money than it should and before I was using the kettle on twice a day now stopped and less cooking too on the hob .. before was about 80p a day, now it's about £2 a day..

So the next step, as I suggested earlier, is to get a handle on the actual daily consumption in kWh by reading the meter daily for a few days at around the same time each day. Then you can reassure yourself that the meter is charging you correctly and refocus on how you might reduce that consumption.

Good to see the trick works though. That means you can try topping up at much as possible before October to try and lessen the effect of the next increase.1

My suspicion is that a lot more providers may well be wise to the trick this time and take steps to stop it working.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
