Hope you won't mind my asking - why the battery? Are you a heavy evening energy user?

Based on the below 4kW quote this past week for a family member, I'm pretty sure my installer can better the above quote while supplying  higher spec, non-Chinese brands. DM me if you'd like an introduction.

10x 400w Sharp solar panels, 25 year performance warranty and a 15 year product warranty

10 x Solar Edge S440 Solar optimizers. 25 Year warranty

1 x Solar Edge HD Wave single phase inverter[Battery ready inverter] 25 year product warranty

      1 x MCS and G98 Certificates

    £5,750.00

    -  10 x 400w LG + 6 x 550W SHARP BiFacial Panels + SE 5000 Inverter + SE Optimizers. SE London.
    -  Triple aspect. (22% ENE/ 33% SSE/ 45% WSW)
    -  Viessmann 200-W on Advanced Weather Comp. (the most efficient gas boiler sold)

Feel free to DM me if I can help with any energy saving!

I'm not a particularly high energy user but added a battery to help smoothen the load.  At the time I thought it might eventually break even with a bit of luck.  Now it looks increasingly like a good investment.
    Install 28th Nov 15, 3.3kW, (11x300LG), SolarEdge, SW. W Yorks.
    Install 2: Sept 19, 600W SSE
    Solax 6.3kWh battery

I’d like to transition away from gas to electric heating. I’ve been keeping my eye on this company/device https://tepeo.com/thezeb

The battery is to save as much energy as I can, why get 5p for it when I can use it to take the place of expensive units. Yes the payback takes years but I’m happy to pay the premium and do my bit, as well as see savings on my bills

I certainly would consider a cheaper battery but from what I hear, the Powerwall is the best out there.

I do have PC’s on a lot over night but overall I’m not a heavy user

If you could PM the installers details you mention please and I can check them out

While I applaud the sentiment, spare a thought for the counter argument. Lithium batteries are still in relatively short supply and really should go into a car to replace the most carbon. With the advent of vehicle to home charging, an EV may soon make larger home storage batteries redundant.

For some use cases, a smaller capacity battery may make some sense. The £ saved may be more effective if it were used to procure a heat pump perhaps? DM sent.

Having thought about it I agree with you..  We just need to see an affordable ev to appeal to the masses. VW seem to be on track, Tesla seem to have the best cars but still need that budget ev to really cement there dominance.

Not sure Tesla have the best cars what they do have is the best charging network , once the charging infrastructure improves Tesla will lose there edge.
8kw system spread over 6 roofs , surrounded by trees and in a valley.

Some of the charging network in the UK is now open to other makes of EV's - it won't be long before the remaining (majority) follows.
    PV total 19.8 kW system:
23 x 420W East/West split over two flat roof areas at 10 degrees inclination.
13 x 390W South spit over two flat roof areas at 5 to 20 degrees inclination.
6 x 390W south wall mounted at 90 degrees inclination.
7 x 390W West wall mounted at 90 degrees inclination.
    2 x 5 kW hybrid inverters
    4 x 9.5 kWh batteries (38 kWh total)

Yes I agree…. A 100k Tesla compared to say a Porsche there is no comparison in terms of luxury and finish, but being a tech guy there UI is well ahead of the competition. Granted over time the legacy car makers will take market share but it’s concerning that a lot of manufacturers are not fully committed to battery and still producing hybrids.

I thing what sometimes people overlook is that Tesla is not just a care manufacturer, it’s an energy company as well… Where the car industry goes from here, who knows.

I thought Toyota’s hydrogen car was positive but apparently there are a handful of filling stations in the country and most are in London.

Anyway exciting times with all this innovation.

Let’s hope this transition happens sooner rather than later and that we don’t drag our feet as a country.
