Shares Transfer

Hi
My dad died in April and I was appointed executor of his will

i though I’d sorted everything out and then we received a shares statement in the post - he’d got 50 shares in Santander that none of us knew about. 

Here’s the thing, they’re worth about £100, and they want £78.50 to transfer into my mums name. TBH after all the hassle, and it has been a hassle, I’m inclined to tell them to stuff it.  They’ve sent pages of paperwork to complete and we’d see £20!  

Please could someone let me know if  there’s another way to do this that’s cheaper and less complicated?

What will ‘they’ (who are they?) charge to sell them? 

Sale proceeds should be paid by cheque in your name as executor. Bank the cheque & transfer equal amount to mum, assuming she is sole beneficiary.

You could always gift them. IIRC they have a couple of linked charities and you can have them gifted to the one that would be most appropriate for your father's memory.
