Solar Export Tariff

I have just had my Quarter 1 solar feed in tariff - my export payment is priced at 5.5p per KWH. Why are energy companies not being forced to increase the rate they pay in line with the wholesale cost they are telling us they are having to pay for electricity. They are more than happy to treble our prices but not so willing to pay out more from the energy we are providing back to them. It doesn't make sense - how can I get my provider to pay me a fair rate?

    Move provider?

Octopus pay me a fair rate that depends on the market value, split into  30 minute blocks, tariff is called Agile Outgoing. Today's prices range from 17.2p (2.30am) to 35.59p (6.30pm).

It's only for customers who also buy energy from them though.

Octopus Agile Outgoing has worked out as an average of 26p per kWh for the past 7 days for the electricity I've exported.

If you are in receipt of FIT and export payments then you agreed to a contract with the Government based on RPI increases. You may have to wait until next year to see any significant increase.

If you have a neighbour with an electric car, see if you can strike up a deal to charge it more cheaply than they could do at home.

Do bear in mind that if you switch to eg. Outgoing Octopus, you'll be paid for metered export rather than your current deemed figure. This might work in your favour - or might not!

Posts like this always catch me off guard, I always presume they must be on SEG, They certainly would not be happy if the Contract they signed was changed to pay them less.

SEG payments aren’t deemed which is why you need a Smart meter (or other export meter) to be eligible.
