Eon Equifax credit rating

Eon have marked my Equifax credit file as adverse because of a metre reading error. Equifax raised a case but Eon declined it without checking the circumstances of the case. The metre is sited in a building plot and is not connected to a property and they just estimated high metre readings and billed me without my knowledge. This has now marked my credit file and I’m finding it difficult to get a mortgage. Eon next are no help whatsoever. There must be someone in their company that can deal with this.

With regard to the adverse marker, you need to complain to Eon if you haven't already. Equifax is unlikely to be able to do anything until Eon sort it out.I am a Mortgage Adviser - You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. You need to formally complain to EON and escalate to the ombudsman as necessary, don't waste time on here, put it in writing formally, marked as complaint - whether email or letter.0

Get a written complaint in double quick, either direct to EON or using the MSE resolver app if you need handholding and reminders to escalate. There's not much point talking to Equifax. With the mortgage, just get a good broker on the case to see what rates you can get, they will know what to look for on the report.0
