We’re with EDF. Only 2 of us in the hse and Husband is out all day 7-7. We were paying £98 pcm, then in Feb it went to £141. Currently EDF are offering to fixed until July 2024 @ £209 should we take it? I’ve no idea what to do!

If you could post annual usage in kWh and the price per kWh the fix is offering that will help.

An if I were you and hadn't fixed already I would get a quote from

Best switch and fix rates on the market currently with no exit fees.

Read the terms and conditions make.sure it's right for you. This is a fixed rate not bound by price caps but does come under the expect rise in October.

To rejoin a price capped product in the future you wil have to switch to another provider at the end of your fixed rate as Green Energy are not bound by price caps and do not have to offer a product of this nature.

If you are happy with a switch and fix then a switch at the end should they not offer you a competitive one at the end of your fixed rate this could be for you.

Please check if the quote is based on your real usage and not on an estimated or worse just something they made up.

What was your energy usage for electricity and gas for a 12 month period? What unit rates and standing charges are offered to you.

If the £141 are correct and did not leave you with a huge amount credit  £209 sounds totally unrealistic. Just the increase in April would bring you already to the £209, so they would offer you a fix at current SVT. Currently everything over 50% than current SVT would be a gift.

Do you give monthly manual gas readings if you are aware the smart meter isn't functioning correctly?
