I'm looking to get a cheap old uPVC door on our ex-council terrace house replaced with a decent quality new composite door with glass panels. I've had a couple of quotes from small local companies in the region of £2500 (inc. VAT) - which we could afford, but I was expecting to get something for under £2000. Am I being a bit optimistic?

under 2k is achievable just depending . what is there now . what you want and what is required to make good . I use distinction doors but there are others available . Pop a pic or send me one inside and out and I can price it

I had a solid wood door done at the beginning of the year but also had a quote for a composite door. The composite was £1900 plus VAT. That was in East London.

The firm did offer me the option to pay in cash and so not pay VAT!

You should be able to get one fitted for about £1500 but depends where you live and quality of the door 
I went into glazing company 3 weeks ago to order a upvc door panel for a job, they had composite doors the from £399 to £8k
