What extra support measures or regulations do you expect the government to bring in this winter?

Given that this winter is when things really hit the fan as the price of energy hits millions of people, do you think the government will step in with additional support measures, increased investment in insulation, and/or increased regulatory powers?
And at what point will £3k+ annual bills become politically unacceptable?

At this moment in time I don't expect them to add any more for this winter.

Some families/people are receiving up to £3200 in extra support this year. To put that into perspective that is our homes full energy bill for the year and half a years diesel. (Please note we aren't getting anything but the £400)

In the first instance I'd not expect to see any further support until/unless the substantial package of support already announced proves to be inadequate. Changes to cover the likes of those living in fixed caravan parks may well come in though.

The new Prime Minister and Chancellor of the Exchequer may decide to go further of course, with the tax cut route looking most likely right now.

What worries me most is that with all the government has put into supporting has to be paid back at some stage through taxes. Everyone is grateful for any monitory assistance provided, but not so many are happy on having to pay this back at some point through higher taxes or cuts in public services.

It's a bad situation for many, I just worry that we'll still be feeling the after effects in 20+ years time.
Precisely my thought every time someone pipes up with "the government must do something!!"  Like so many things where people think something must be done they don't think of the consequences.

Doesn't matter what - it's fight for freedom, but someone gets killed; stop smoking, get fat; sugar tax, food full of sweeteners; more benefits, higher taxes; save money, raise SP age....   And on it goes.

No, I do not think that they will. Come October everyone will have six months of £66pcm in support, the least well off will receive support exceeding £1,200. It is already costing billions to fund the current handouts, I really cannot see them extending them further.
And at what point will £3k+ annual bills become politically unacceptable?
They probably will not, they will just become part of life.

I'm expecting the pensioner premium to go up a further £400 per household ie Winter fuel allowance to £900 per two pensioner household. Or at least that's what I told Father Xmas I wanted !!

I agree with others, much more energy saving information needs to be given, especially around how to best run the heating system that you already have.

We see people on here with sky high bills, plugging in electric heaters because they think it costs too much to put the gas central heating on etc.
