Have Vista, MP3 software not compatable?????????

We have just bought a laptop installed with Vista.

Packed and ready to leave the country for a few months we have a couple of problems which we hope you can help with.

1.) Today we bought a MP3 player (Technica from Tesco) . The operating information was contained within the package and unseen. Once inside we noted that it was only suitable for spec's below Vista, so clearly it will have to be returned tomorrow. Does anyone know of a MP3 player that IS compatible with Vista please.

2.) We also hope that the software for a Pentax Optio 50L camera will also run OK on the laptop running Vista.

3) we are also having problems installing the software for a 3/4 yr old webcam, is this all due to Vista being new. Due to the soon departure, we would welcome a swift reply with advice regarding suitable replacements.

Comments

  • Should work fine with Vista, just plug it in and the OS will detect the drive, then simply copy the MP3 files to the device.

i cant remember how to do it but if software does not work with vista you can opt to run it in an earlier form of windows like xp. i just searched the help and support and you use the program compatibility wizard.
i hope it works for you.
  • stick it in the drive and vista will take you to the site of the tech....and get the drivers for it...or it will find them within the operating system for you....:D

most new usb storage including mp3 players are 'driverless' these days and probably the cd is for windows 98 - read the documentation/back of the packet.

Your camera may be a different matter, and may need drivers from their web site. howver just plug it in and see how far you get.
GOOGLE it before you ask, you'll often save yourself a lot of time. ;)

I had similar problems with my modem and printer, drivers on set up disks would not work on Vista. Fortunately still had my old PC and went on line to the manufacturer's websites and downloaded drivers from there.
