Hello
I applied for a Barclaycard last Thursday online and it stated they needed further checks and would contact me in 5 working days.
Tomorrow will be the fifth working day and not heard anything yet.
However today I received an email inviting me to review my experience applying for a Barclaycard! Bit surprised to receive this as I was starting to think I'd been rejected!
Might I still receive a Barclaycard? Anyone had a similar experience ?
Thank you for all replies

They took a while for mine. I had 2 Platinum cards each with a £15,000 limit with an impeccable history with Barclaycard and wanted to ditch them and get the Rewards Barclaycard. Person in online chat told me I couldn't do that and had to cancel my two cards and reapply. I did that and like you, they took ages to respond to my application and then approved with a £300 limit, So prepare yourself for that.

They will up your limit to a more suitable amount when you upload proof of earnings but that was also an ordeal getting the online system to upload the documents.

Be prepared for the long haul, they don't make it easy ;-)

When I applied a year ago they did the same to me. Turns out I received a letter home with the credit agreement to sign but with 29.9% APR instead of the 21.9% APR. As soon as I returned that, the card immediately dispatched and I could see it in my banking app.
My OH applied last week, told that they will come back to them in 5 working days - 1 day later the card was showing in their banking app. Advertised APR.

I think it’s a bit of a hit and miss with them.

Unless you wanted to go for an introductory offer, you should have been able to swap one of your Barclaycard for the Rewards product (I know that in the past Rewards was only Forex free for a limited time but the T&C changed and now is permanently Forex Free.

I have done plenty of product change with Barclaycard overtime, keeping always the same account (since 1999). I have also consolidated credit limits with them when at one point I had three of their cards (so you could have swapped one of the platinum for Rewards and then consolidated the limits to Rewards up to about £30k, closing then the other platinum). Now you are able to do it directly within the App and My wife has recently done that swapping her two platinums for one Rewards (Forex Free back up to Chase, Santander Zero and MBNA Horizon) and one Avios.
