British Gas New Fixed Tariff Errors

I am registered with British Gas as a vulnerable customer. On 26th May I took Martin's advice to accept a new 12 month fixed tariff if it was less than 30 per cent above my current price.  I just got my first bill since then and discovered the new tariff has not been applied, even though I have written email confirmation. I called and was told that my only option was to go onto a higher July tariff. The agent was quite agressive and another person may well have felt bullied.  Eventually I did get through to somebody who apologised profusely, said this has been happening a lot where the BG system has been simply cancelling people from new tariffs. She agreed to put me on the correct tariff with immediate effect and compensate me by not backdating the increased charge. So, if this has happened to you, don't let British Gas try to bully you. Stand your ground and make sure they correct their mistake.
