Sneaky milkman service! Price increased by 16p a pint without notice. Delivery frequency changed to 1 pint every four weeks. This is purely a service I have to automatically use a credit card (which lives in a drawer got dinged for inactivity so need to keep it active) and, whilst nice milk with a cream top, it's certainly not essential.

Most DIY problems can be solved by a combination of spanner, pliers, screwdriver, Allan key and a blade. (Hold it, twist it, cut it!) Very occasionally industrial language, a hammer and an adhesive may need to be added to the mix. (Curse it, hit it, patch it!)1 -
NSD yesterday, we'll see about today.
Had a builder come by to get a quote for re-rendering a few walls and changing a solid internal window to one that opens. TV also arrived - so far so good. HDMI ports a little too close together for my liking but it's not too bad.Mortgage free by 33 - (21/07/22 - 32 years and a bit...)

NSD yesterday. Had a lovely cheap dinner of spaghetti and chard pesto. Chard came in from the garden so a carbon footprint of a dozen paces if that!
Recipe (can be used for any leaves...)
Shove leaves into a mini chopper along with a splash of oil and a broken up piece of hard cheese (cheddar, parmesan, etc.). Add some flavour (I used garlic and balsamic vinegar. Mustard would work!) and blitz. Periodically open chopper to check status and push any not-blitzed stuff to the bottom. Keep blitzing until texture is even. It's now ready to eat!Mortgage free by 33 - (21/07/22 - 32 years and a bit...)

LSD today. 35p for a reduced pack of cherry tomatoes.
I also received the "Mortgage closed" letter from the bank today. We officially own our little dungheap! We're finally thinking of the improvements that we would like (such as a wall mounted letter rack - oh such delusions of grandeur!) and following through on them.Mortgage free by 33 - (21/07/22 - 32 years and a bit...)

We had in-laws down at the weekend so Saturday and Sunday were used, amongst other things, to top up food supplies. Mainly fruit and veg although two truncheons of black pudding came home. That will keep me going for a while. Yesterday I was out and about but a LSD as someone bought the second pint. Unfortunately the second pub has stopped serving the beer it was most known for thanks to the insistence of the owning company...Mortgage free by 33 - (21/07/22 - 32 years and a bit...)

It's taken an age to sort but I am finally getting to go on a pub crawl in Bristol! DW is taking DD to her homeland of North via plane and needs escorting to the airport. Confirmed with work that I can go and also taking the opportunity to stay overnight and do some exploration!Mortgage free by 33 - (21/07/22 - 32 years and a bit...)

Been a little uneventful but I have been doing top-up shops for a neighbour with the plague. It's interesting to see how our priorities differ and also our differences in spending.
I have almost perfected my coleslaw recipe too. Using red cabbage next to see how that compares. I made a bean chili the other day and used up some old taco shells too!
Bit miffed at Sainsbury's today. Felt like a waste of a bus fare to be honest, although it gave me and DD an afternoon activity.Mortgage free by 33 - (21/07/22 - 32 years and a bit...)

This week's update is after a moderately successful week. I offloaded a bunch of dust collectors to a friend who works for a charity donation centre. Anything else that I find can go to him for the charity. The loft will be gently de-crapped as and when I go up there. It's not a major project at this point but anything that can go should go. Draught proofing ordered and a thermal door curtain has been acquired. That will be put up soon. I also would like a wall mounted letter rack for the letters that just get stepped over at this point...
Food bills have been kept at a reasonable level. Managed to minimise impulsive purchases and my neighbour has settled his increasing bill before it got too high. I have leftover rice for egg fried rice tonight too. Considering the next week for meals. Things should be alright. Only need milk towards the end of the week but will keep an eye out for YS and bulk dried and tinned deals. I am also looking into large batches of instant foods that may be cheap and easy to make if winter goes belly-up.
Finally I am considering what alternative cooking methods I can use if we end up with power cuts and the like. I have a Kelly Kettle and a camping stove which needs more gas. I will also be looking into making a haybox before too long.Mortgage free by 33 - (21/07/22 - 32 years and a bit...)
