Monthly gas + electricity bill over £600 for 3 bedroom semi??

My father passed away earlier this year. He always paid the gas and electricity and other utility bills, so this is all new to me. We don't have those stand-alone thermometers - but my LED clock has a temperature gauge - which I think is taken from the internal temperature of my room - currently showing 27*C in London

- as do our Amazon Echo devices - although I think they are more outside weather temperature readings, rather than internal readings.
