Why did you want to clean it?    It was doing it's job... now you've removed some of it...

They were filthy, and mil had tried cleaning them with cif and a scrubbing brush to no avail.

I’m instructing you to have a rest and a nice copper.
Then look online for a cordless multitool to repair those windows 😊

Her courage will change the world.

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.

    NOW you tell me...

Not a prob - the local group I help out at have a good set of tools, and I'm sure a 'multi' is amongst them. Never actually used one yet, but noticed the funny blades it has.

I guess it'll be ideal for cutting out the chunks of rotten wood, and then for levelling the fillets and filler I add afterwards?

I can honestly say it’s a tool that I thought I never needed until I used one.
Maybe, just once, someone will call me 'Sir' without adding, 'You're making a scene.'

Used my multitool yesterday to cut through rusted bolts on a close coupled WC, otherwise 30mins with a hacksaw blade and sore hand.
Today cutting out grout to replace broken tiles around a bath. Dewalt with 4amp battery last me all week..

For Diy jobs just buy a cheap cordless with a 1.5 amp battery, but buy quality blades. And deffo not from the middle isle😂
ps don’t buy Bosch as only starlock blades will fit it.and expensive.
