Flight cancellation claim for car hire

We are due to fly EasyJet Luton to Nice on July 30 but worried about a last minute cancellation.
I understand my rights in that they must find me an alternative flight or refund.
my question is, if I Get to the airport in the morning of the 30th and they cancel my flight, if I then decide I will drive to Nice (because their alternative is bad), can I get a refund of the flight, then other costs (euro tunnel/ferry, tolls, fuel - mine is a Tesla so minimal, tolls, and the £430 we have paid for car hire)?
part of me is thinking just drive if they screw me around but don’t want to forego anything

You will not in any event be able to claim the cost of your car hire booking in France. Airlines are not responsible for consequential losses.
If your flight is cancelled you have the following options
1) A full refund
2) Re-routing "under comparable transport conditions"
But you don't get to reclaim both 1 and 2. If you want easyJet to meet the costs of your re-routing (which is questionable whether driving is comparable transport conditions) then you wouldn't be able to claim a refund as well.
In any event you may also be entitled to fixed compensation if the cancellation reason is under the control of easyJet2 -
My understanding is that you've chosen the best airport in the UK to fly from. I'm sure I read that Luton was doing better than everywhere else.
Isn't your car a bit impractical for a long drive though?0 -
Exactly my thought - @julius1973 how long do you expect it to take from Luton-Nice with charging time built in - and have you done it before ?sammynunes said:

Who cares about practicality if he's thinking it might all be on Easyjet's dollar.sammynunes said:My understanding is that you've chosen the best airport in the UK to fly from. I'm sure I read that Luton was doing better than everywhere else.

It’s good to know Luton is faring better than most. Re the car being impractical for long journeys it adds 300miles of charge per hour so can fully charge in 40 minutes. According to the nav it will take 12 hours from Calais and cost about £40 in charge. They are really good for long journeysk3lvc said:

You maybe misunderstood the question - from experience of colleagues driving to Swiss/French areas whilst (Tesla) chargers are available in theory, in practice they're oversubscribed especially on key weekends/travel times. French service areas are quite nice - you might be spending a bit more than 40mins at each onejulius1973 said:

I know we're going off topic, but 'charge time' is assuming a charger is available immediately when you get to the charge point. No such problem with petrol or diesel.

The car knows where all the superchargers are so never had a problem. Just takes a ‘bit more’ planning on long journeys for contingenciesTELLIT01 said:I know we're going off topic, but 'charge time' is assuming a charger is available immediately when you get to the charge point. A car is unlikely to be comparable to a plane, however if you wish to test this in court I wish you the best.
There are multiple Easyjet departures from the London area to Nice, so they're likely to re-book you onto one of their own services, probably from Gatwick, if the situation is necessary.
There is no indication your flight won't go at the moment, in fact all LTN-NCE services have gone in the last week.💙💛 💔0
