Autoglass

Any advice gratefully received. My insurance company sent me to autoglass for windscreen replacement.  (I was quoted £500 privately which I now wish I'd paid) . Easily booked and paid excess. Engineer left my windscreen not fitted properly,  wipers broken (which we discovered later in torrential rain) and the aerial damaged. After many phone calls and emails from me (only one was returned by autoglass) they agreed to come and replace glass then cancelled last minute. More calls and emails and they came out only to tell me the car was beyond their repair and needed to go to VW as the original engineer had "destroyed" the aerial. 8 weeks, many calls, many emails later and nothing. It's like talking to a wall. No calls returned, emails get a response saying someone will look into it and then I hear nothing until my next email to which I get same response and you can't get hold of a manager. I'm beyond stressed trying to get somewhere with this company. Has anyone else had any experience or got any wisdom they could share please?

Their advert's jingle is ringing in my head: 'Autoglass repair, Autoglass replace...'

You could go down the small claims route which can be done online. I'd advise sending a letter warning them beforehand you are going to do this and send it signed for post. Get someone's name and send it to them, preferably someone high up. Give them a reasonable time to respond, maybe four weeks (due to Covid and any strikes).

I'd get on to the insurance company.  If they're arranging and paying for the replacement screen then they should take ownership of the problem and put  a rocket under Autoglass or send you to VW directly.  What  a nightmare !  You have my sympathy, I've only dealt with them once and had to wait weeks for a side window . They put a temporary piece of polythene in as a temp repair which i felt very insecure about esp leaving the car in a car park whilst at work.

Just deal with the insurance company, tell them they have 7 days to arrange a booking with VW or agree to refund the repair. Otherwise you'll send a LBA and then SCC them.

Sound advice regarding the insurance route. But being the cynic that I am good luck with that due to Covid, customer service working from home etc which could take a long time. We're surviving in unpresidented times never seen before.  Failing that you've still got the plan 'B' to fall back on.

As someone that has worked from home pre covid lockdown & still does & will not be returning to the office. Nothing has changed. We still work in exactly the same way. Just computer is at home, rather than on a desk in office.
We still have the same chain of command for any issues. Just that instead of maybe walking to see someone we just zoom them. The end result is the same.

I'm sure it has, just about as much as your post.

As OP has not returned since they made the post I doubt we will ever find out.
