Car Insurance Question - Additional driver accident???

Can someone advise me please? 
Trying to help my parents with their car insurance, my dad is a named driver on my moms policy but he had an accident last year and wrote off his vehicle.  Is this something they have to declare on renewal on my moms car?  My dad is only a named driver on her policy.  They both have clean licences but my dad was at fault with the accident last year but on his own vehicle and policy.  He does not have the vehicle anymore and they want to share my moms car now.

Yes, when you add the additional driver it will ask for their driving history such as claims and convictions. You have to answer the questions honestly.
