It should work, are you using the android to ios transfer tool?

When you use this whatsapp gets automatically loaded onto IOS device and then all chats and thread are transferred

When we have both tried this, WhatsApp is not listed in the options to be transferred:

Some progress, YT has a howto that involves a beta version of WhatsApp.

The version I have on my phone (latest update from the Play Store) is 2.22.14.74

There is a beta version currently not available on the Play Store (it says the beta program is full) that can be downloaded from an alternative source, version 2.22.15.xx that has WhatsApp listed in the 'move' options. I'm not sure about using unofficial sources to install apps although the YT video walk through looks straightforward enough.

I might wait until the 2.22.15 version is available in the Play Store before I change the phones over. I think the WhatsApp help page is a bit ahead of reality!
