Selling ticket with QR code

Options
Hi, just wanting to check. I have sold some tickets on ebay with QR codes. I blanked out the  codes when i listed them. I have sold them and the buyer wants to know if i can send them the pic/Pdf of the tickets. I was going to print them and post them. Do I have to do that, or am I ok messaging them with the pic. Will ebay support this. Or am i breaking rules, thanks

You need proof that buyer has the item to win an INR so it depends whether you trust the buyer or not. Tickets are a minefield and very few are allowed to be sold for this very reason, most sporting, travel entertainment ones etc have to go through stubhub.

i contacted ebay and they said I was ok to send them a photo. The buyer has said that only 2 of the 6 tickets are working. I phoned the lloyds bank and they said that all tickets have been used. So I confirmed I hadnt used them previously. So they are going to check when and where they were used, but this may take a couple of weeks. The tickets will have expired by them.  I messaged the buyer back and told them this. Are they trying it on.

I'm not surprised ebay reps told you to ignore their policies. they are notorious for telling you anything you want to hear just to make you go away. The specific ticket policy is here
    https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/prohibited-restricted-items/event-tickets-policy?id=4309&st=3&pos=1&query=Event tickets policy&intent=tickets&lucenceai=lucenceai&docId=HELP1158

So assuming your ticket was eligible you must still have proof of delivery or receipt via a collection code from the buyer to be protected against an INR. If buyer claims they are used and does an SNAD and not an INR they have about 3 weeks to return the tickets to you (a signed for or tracked letter will probably suffice in this instance as they physically don't have the tickets)

I assumed from your original post this was happening now, but your second post suggests it has already gone a bit awry, so has any case at all been opened?

They have the tickets as they claim to have used 2 out of the 6. They say the other 4 dont work. I have told them that Lloyds are going to investigate when the tickets have been used and what cinema they were used at, but this might be a few weeks. So I assume that if the 6 tickets were used at same cinema booked at the same time then I know they were fibbing. They only have few weeks left on them so they need to use them all together or a few days. apart. So I suppose I just need to wait to hear from Lloyds about this before I do anything. Unless its worth contacting ebay myself. The buyer hasnt done anything yet that i know of except message me. Do i still post the other tickets. or hang fire now its gone a bit messy.
I hate all this. I am not great with ebay. I should have checked the codes myself first but I just presumed that they would all be fine as WE havent been near a cinema in over 2 years

If a case hasn't been opened then there is no need to do anything much - your problem will come as soon as a case is opened and that will depend on what claim they start. I can't see what Lloyds bank can do (or are they their tickets?) as if they open an SNAD they will almost certainly win - although they are time limited as a claim must be made within 30 days of last estimated date of delivery - so how close are they to that? I also see no point in phoning ebay, what exactly can they do , even you don't seem to be entirely sure the tickets are fine.

I'm not sure what the 'other' tickets are that you refer to?

This is exactly why I would never sell any tickets etc on eBay. I'd do cash on collection only.

Don't do anything yet with eBay - not until a case is opened. Until then keep the buyer sweet. Don't accuse the buyer of anything at all and be sympathetic. You are just buying time for Lloyds to respond. The last thing you want is for the buyer to retaliate and open a claim as that will then place you on a restricted timeframe.

Should Lloyds respond saying the tickets were all used at the same place, then that is what you inform the buyer, who will most likely then open a case with eBay, and then you have some evidence for eBay too.

Truth be told, eBay always side with the buyer. So if the buyer continues to dispute, despite your evidence from Lloyds, he/she will most likely win the case I'm afraid.

I've sold my Lloyds cinema tickets on ebay every year and I just send the PDF. All the buyers have been honest. (One of them left feedback before they even had the chance to try out the tickets... yes I know feedback means nothing)

They're "free" anyway so I don't care that much. If ebay makes you refund then do so. If you later obtain the evidence that the buyer used them, I suppose you have the option to go to small claims or just let it go

Thanks, I didn't reply as I was waiting for update. My bank emailed today to tell me that all vouchers were utilised, giving me the date, cinema and film booked for all 6 tickets. Obviously it doesn't show who watched the film but it does show that 4 tickets were used on the 10th, the day I sold them, and 2 on 16th. But all used after I had sold them. I haven't heard back from the buyer for a few days. I am happy to explain that I have details of all the bookings, maybe they will realise I am onto them. As I didn't post them only sent in the message, eBay will have details that I sent the codes and therefore proof of delivery. As I also have details of all the bookings that must surely help my case, maybe.

Thanks anyway. I won't be selling any more tickets.
