Covid19 cancellation cover if friend goes down with Covid19

My daughter is planning to go on holiday for 2 weeks with a female friend to the Greek Islands this summer.

I have been perusing the comparison websites to give her some guidance on how to narrow down the choice of cover to meet her needs.

One issue I have noticed so far is that the insurance policies I have seen so far do not cover cancellation if her friend contacts Covid19, and therefore is unable to travel, which leaves her in the situation of being a lone female traveller. Most policies appear to cover cancellation if a near relative is infected, or lives with the policy holder.

How do I go about finding cancellation cover that will meet her need in this situation? She does not want to go on a holiday alone.

Think you're going to struggle to find any kind of policy that covers that kind of situation.

I think you’ll need to look through terms and conditions or ask.

I am with insure & Go (gold) and I’m covered if a member of the travelling party is diagnosed with covid.

dont expect a comprehensive insurance to be the cheapest.

I have a not on sale policy that does cover it.

I believe Nationwide does too, however you'll have to check the policy terms. Their cover (with some extras) is £13/month.

As above, don't expect a gold plated policy to be cheapest.

I think so too. Prior to Covid, when I last went away with a friend, it was difficult to cover this. I just decided that I would go on my own if that happened.

A small group policy for your daughter and her friend may be appropriate.
