How disgusting. Of course you must mention it. Very sneaky to cover it up.
Does the buyer move the furniture to check the carpets? Pretty sure I didn’t.  The carpet looks old and would need to be replacing without seeing the holes.

Bit harsh I think. When you stage a house for viewings it's natural to do what you can to present it at its best. I don't think the OP has anything to beat themselves up about. If it were me, I'd mention the issue during the second viewing but I doubt it'll make any significant difference if the buyers are really keen on the house. I certainly wouldn't have been bothered (they'll probably want to replace the carpets at some stage anyway).

The buyers will almost certainly replace the carpets anyway, so I’d be surprised if it makes a difference.

Lol.  There's a difference between showing something at its best and 'strategically covering up' stuff.  It's a minor issue and yes they will probably replace anyway but whilst that response was harshly worded, it's substance is on the money IMO.

I really wouldn't care about this as a buyer. It's wear and tear. Houses have wear and tear, and there are probably various things in almost any house you buy that will need to be replaced if you want them as new/in good condition.

It's trivial. You are under no obligation to point out any defects, you merely have to be truthful if asked questions.
Having said that, I wouldn't have actively covered it up.

My point exactly.  I wouldn’t want anyone else’s carpets, but I sure wouldn’t want a moth problem in a house……

I don't really agree with the other posters. I'm buying a house right now and 100% expect to find damaged/stained areas that were hidden under/behind furniture etc. I wouldn't be pleased about the moths though... On reflection, it's a bit odd that there's no question on pests on the property information form, it would be helpful as it's hard to tell while viewing.

As a buyer I would probably be thinking of replacing carpets at some point anyway. So I wouldn't change my decision on buying. However I would appreciate being told.
