This tells me that (i) the trust will not provide potection against care home fees, since you are only protected if the trust is for a different purpose; (ii) whoever gave such disastrous advice was almost certainly not a genuine solicitor.wathlass said:solicitor said this would avoid having to sell for care home fees.
Firstly, check whether the advice really did come from a solicitor: I think this unlikely, but if so you might get compensation from the Solicitors' Regulatory Authority. Secondly, see a genuine solicitor and find out how you can get yourself out of this mess. Sadly, you will probably need to spend thousands of pounds to undo the damage already done.
