I got moved from E.On to E.On Next in late February and have had my second bill from them this week, but it states on the email:

About this bill
It looks as though there was a period (from 28th November 2021 to 10th February 2022), where we didn't charge you for the energy you used. We've now added these charges to your bill, so your account is completely up to date.

28th Nov. 2021 402.0 Smart meter reading
28th Dec. 2021 560.0 Smart meter reading
28th Jan. 2022 704.0 Smart meter reading
11th Feb. 2022 767.0 Customer reading
Consumption 365.0 Units (m3
)
Energy Used* 4201.0 kWh @ 2.740p/kWh £115.11
Standing Charge 75 days @ 13.800p/day £10.35
Subtotal of charges before VAT £125.46
VAT @ 5% £6.27
Total Gas Charges £131.73

However, I can see on a previous bill that this period of time between those specific dates is covered by a bill issued by then in February:

On 29th Nov. 2021 your previous balance was £145.34 CR
1. We have charged you
Based on your meter readings.

On 24th Feb. 2022 your new balance was £99.36 CR

28th Nov. 2021 402.0 Smart meter reading

Before I ring them up, am I completely missing something here? I have no missed payments.

It does look as though they are trying to charge you twice for the same gas.
Best call them and hope you get through to one of the more switched-on reps.

I got an odd backdated bill quoting some sort of error and they say they re charging me a backdated £4 ! I m not going to argue about it
.I switched as a SOLR from good old Symbio who are not known for brilliant billing .I could never get an end reading off them to check with Eon.
Even my latest switch to Octopus has not gone well and Eon  are saying Octopus never supplied an end reading so they carried on taking out a direct debit after I d left .Odd how Octopus supplied EDF with end reading OK

They certainly aren't the clearest with billing, I contacted them and they are saying the refunded me the £131 on the first bill I pasted on here but I can't work out how to check that.

It should appear as a credit on a subsequent bill I would have thought? Failing that, you may be best to work through the account balancing off amounts charged against payments you've made, and see if the account balance confirms any refund. It might also be a good idea just check your bank statements for the relevant amount having come in and somehow gone unnoticed?

Best way is to recalculate your costs from the start of your account with them ( or from a point in the past prior to any of the dates mentioned).

    Last reading  minus initial reading
( for gas you then need to convert into kwh , so  multiply by 11.1868 )

    X units at  ?p.
    X days at
( may have different prices over time, so multiple lines)

then from total cost take off what you have paid to them by DD ( or other)

I found what it was, they have shown the first amount as being credited back to my account on a later bill but it wasn't clear where until it was pointed out to me.

    Thanks all that helped.
