Cheap car insurance (young driver)

I have noticed that putting myself as a student living away rather than an apprentice will save me money. Apprentice isn’t a direct option but I can put myself as an accountant. If I chose full/part time education and student living away it is seriously reduced price. Can I do this?

As long as you can look someone in the eye and reasonably justify it as the most relevant option available... the issue however is more likely to be that you have been manipulating the info on websites so the vendors will see that you tried a range of different options and that's a red flag and could mean you are more likely picked out to validate all your quote details.
  • If i used a comparison site would this make a difference?

Yes, it means 100 insurers are now concerned that you are manipulating your quote rather than just one if you'd done it on a single insurer's site.

Op, certainly you can make it cheaper by what you are say.
However, don't forget the bit about the accuracy of the info required.
Come an accident, especially if you crash into a high-value car or kill/injure someone, they will check out everything
and you may find the insurance co has a few questions re your ins app.
    Good luck.
