There's 2 BA flights to Valencia that day from Heathrow and a Vueling from Gatwick that carries a BA codeshare. On top of the direct flights there's a couple of connection options via Madrid (less than ideal, but would get you there). So there should be BA options even if your flight is cancelled.keelyann said:Thanks all, we are due to fly to Valencia on August 20th. I wasn't sure if they had released all the cancellations now - great if they have as I haven't heard anything!
If BA cancel and can't offer you an alternative then there's 3 easyJet flights from Gatwick and a Ryanair from Stansted. Keep those in the back of your mind and act quickly if a cancellation email from BA turns up!

BA will reduce services to Valencia from LHR from 59 to 54 weekly services in July. I doubt August would be any worse. The airline expects to just reaccommodate any impacted passengers on an alternative service the same day.
Bagand96 gave good info in the post above.
Hopefully nothing will change for you but seems lots of alternative options to get you to your destination.0 -
Thank you everyone for the reassurance and very useful info, much appreciated

Isn’t the problem that everyone I.e. one plane load would be doing the same.bagand96 said:

i appreciate you said “act quickly” but it’s not always going to be possible to re-allocate everyone is it? Even if there are other fligths0 -
No, most insurers cover abandonment due to delay or cancellation resulting in loss of the first 24 hours of a holiday. The issue is that most are very specific of what the reason for the cancellation has to be and the current spate of cancellations dont fall within that definition. The bundled insurance with the Nationwide Flexplus account has a more liberal definition but does itself have a few terms that could be open to interpretation.elsien said:I was struggling with insurance cover for separate elements.1 -
Which is why I said to keep alternatives in mind and act quickly.lisyloo said:

If it's a flight only BA booking then as soon as the cancellation email arrives you should be able to log into MMB and choose an alternative. As you say, you might be competing with everyone else!
(if you have a BA Holidays booking then you can't choose an alternative online and must wait for BA holidays to get in touch with you, or try calling them. A severe handicap in securing your alternative flight given the state of BA customer service phone lines!)
If there's nothing available on BA then off to the other airlines. Don't dither, if you want to get there just book and argue the toss with BA later!0 -
Just for info I got a cancellation email from BA for a flight to France yesterday, immediately hopped onto the website and rearranged for the same flight a few hours earlier the same day. Actually was a result as the new flight is a better time!keelyann said:Thank you everyone for the reassurance and very useful info, much appreciated
For comparison, I had the same thing happen with the return leg and wasn't able to get a flight into the same airport the same day so switched from LHR to LCY. Not ideal but it is what it is.
If it's a busy route with a lot of flights then if you are quick you should be able to find a suitable alternative I think.0
