Play.com Flying pigs!

Options
My girlfriend recently ordered a Slingshot flying monkey and Slingshot flying chicken from Play.com (Xmas presents!) believing that she would get a flying Pig free:

http://www.play.com/Gadgets/Gadgets/3-/125003/2-/Promo.html

Now the problem is she didn't put the pig in her basket along with the others, meaning that she only received the chicken and monkey, but looking at the wording:

"Order The Flying Monkey And The Flying Chicken And Get The Flying Pig For Free"

This implies to me that you don't need to put the pig in your basket to get it free.

2 Calls to play customer service have resulted in being led through the process of adding all 3 to the basket, even after telling them it doesn't say anywhere that you need to. I appreciate it may be assumed that they should be put in the basket, but as it doesn't say anywhere that you need to, do I have the right to demand that Play.com live up to their offer?

So far their only offer is for us to return the goods (at cost to us) and reorder (missing xmas).

Is it unreasonable of me to expect Play.com to send the additional items out to us? Does the Trade Descriptions Act cover this sort of thing?

Thanks!

from what i gather, you have to add all the items to your basket and then it's deducted from your basket, so what's the issue? you didn't read it well?

Play had the offer that you add all the items to your basket and then receive the discount, it isn't their fault if you don't add them all at once.

dogmeat, this is one of those unfortunate situations that occasionally come up. How to get the free flying pig was less than clear but having come across this before I generally always add the freebie into the basket to see if it is charged for or not.

If I can draw an analogy ... when you are shopping at Tescos and you see a BOGOf or a 'buy this, get this free' do you assume that tescos will automatically add the freebie at the checkouts or do you put the freebie in your trolley and expect their checkout systems to sort it out? Similar rules apply?

Should they send you one out? based on you contacting them and them having the ability to review your previous orders I would have thought so but at this time of year such aggrevation is likely to be of low priority.

Should they send one out? In my opinion YES.

The reason because their wording was inaccurate:

"Order The Flying Monkey And The Flying Chicken And Get The Flying Pig For Free"

It says you have to order two to get the third free. If they ment you to order all three to get one free it should have said

"Order The Flying Monkey, Flying Chicken and Flying Pig And Get The Flying Pig For Free"
