If you really are after a contract mobile rather than a PAYG, ask the sales rep if they would take a security deposit from you, I have a couple of friends who got turned down in similar circumstances - when they offered a deposit of about £100 they had no problem getting a contract. Gets refunded after 6 months as well if account run well
I could only do this by talking to virgin though, right? And I am wanting this contract deal as I get cashback (100%) so would loose that if I made the deoposit...
I applied for a credit card with my bank, see what they say, and I'll reapply for the contract towards the end of the week, and if they say no again, i'll go bonkers.

    Hi,
Applying for a credit card with your bank this week won't be of any help to you in getting a phone contract. If you are successful with your bank it won't show on your credit report for at least 1 month. I would then leave it for at least 3 to 6 months before applying again for a phone contract so that they have some financial history to judge you on. If you apply again for a contract this weekend, it will just be wasted credit search.
