New car delivered but........

If you wanted beige and the car has turned up in violent lime green or florescent orange I wouldn't blame you for not wanting it.
If you paid X to get a specific colour and didn't then X should be refunded.
I would be tempted to ask how long it would take to get what you actually ordered and after them hemming and hawwing you might agree to wait or to take the refund depending on the relative vileness of the look.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Carefully read the section of the contract regarding changes to list price between ordering and delivery.
You may get an unpleasant surprise.0 -
Sorry for being slow to reply and thanks for all your suggestions!
I paid only a smallish deposit on ordering (they didn't want more) so they do not have lots of my money. It was quite a bit extra for the paint I chose and a completely different colour has arrived. I really think it was a very fair offer I made to accept the wrong colour if they were to deduct the cost of the paint, but it appears they have another idea.
I know that every car was manufactured to customer order on this model so they may have difficulty sourcing the same model variant in the right colour, though obviously I'd be happy if they did!
They can't increase the price as the contract guarantees it at the price when ordered, I even checked this when I ordered as I was aware of possible future increases in the list price.
For those asking for the colour(s) and model, I prefer not to get into too much detail at the moment as I hope to quietly resolve this with the dealer without putting them under the spotlight (this may change!). As I said previously though, the colours are polar opposite.
Anyway, they did not get back to me again today so I guess they are unsure of what to do or waiting for me to make a move. I'll give them a ring tomorrow and report back here, had a really busy day today and had no time to deal with it.

Without any actual detail, we can only give vague answers.
I'm assuming you hate the new colour and it's a show stopper for you. So the only options would be to:* Get your deposit back and buy something elseor
* Get them to order the car again, wait for it to be made and hopefully not pay any extra.
If you're feeling brave, you could see how much you could sell the car to elsewhere, if it's in high demand.
Personally, I've never really cared about what colour my car is; you can't see it from the inside or when it's covered in dirt
I'd likely turn down a lime green or ASBO orange, though.0
