Scammed but told bank while payment was pending.....

I bought a Karcher Power Washer and paid for it by debit card. The first suspicion it may not be on the level was the way the payment went through, there was no wait for the bank to take the payment and the message after the payment 'went through' was just a few words in the left top corner of the screen which just did not inspire confidence in either of us - hard to put my finger on it but it just did not look right. Anyway, we looked online at the company's history(the thing that should have been done first). There were 100% scam messages on Trust pilot since the 7th June with 133 1 star reviews, all saying scam. I do not know how they are allowed to stay up and take ppls money. The scammers are under the name Keito Mart and I found them through startpage on google chrome. I have since tried to find the ad using ms edge but it did not appear beside the other ads on the startpage search, or I could not see it.
The strange thing for me was that my partner phoned her banks online banking who put her through to the relevant department and she was told that the payment was still pending but the bank needed to let it go through before they could make a claim against the company. Surely, even though we did the wrong thing in not checking the company out, since we told the bank (santander) while the payment was pending, it is up to them and their fault if they let the payment go through?
what do you think or is this the way things have to be done?
cheers

So from the sound of it the bank authorised the payment at the time - which is why it is showing as pending - but the actual payment request hasn't yet come through from the sellers. Until it does, and the money is taken from the bank account, then the bank won't be able to carry out a charge back to get your monry back from the seller. As you actually willingly made the transaction yourself, I suspect the bank isn't prepared to class it as a fraudulent transaction yet and is giving the seller the benefit of the doubt. If the money is taken from your account and your pressure washer doesn't arrive, give the bank another call and say you want them to process a chargeback6

Only option is if goods do not turn up to dispute.
So given Santander are Mastercard. You are looking at 30 days from when payment debits your account.
Once you have submitted a purchase it is a guaranteed form of payment & the bank can not stop it. Unless their system flags it for a fraud check before authorisation.
Cracking website. No T/C half the drop down questions have no answers, only contact mobile or contact us form....Life in the slow lane0 -

Why are people using debit cards online, credit cards are the banks money, debit cards are your money.
so tell me how will the bank react now.
So the spammer now has all your bank details change the card now.0 -
