A smart wifi light switch with a 433MHz remote - If you have Alexa/Siri, just tell it to turn the light on/off or use a remote.

You will need a live & neutral feed plus a switched live to the light - There are smart light switches that claim to not need a neutral, but from what I hear, the bulbs can flicker when off and most use a Tuya chip which can be difficult (or impossible in some cases) to flash with alternative firmware.
I think this may be an issue as I probably don't have a neutral going by what Tadley has advised.
It is not difficult to run a single core (1mm² 6181Y) cable from a light fitting down to the switch. If you are moving the switch from the ceiling to the wall, you'll need to run new cables anyway. Just don't be tempted to repurpose the earth conductor as a neutral - You will get severely chastised by all here.

Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

Just to update this, ended up fitting the Ener-j kinetic switch and receiver today- concealed in the ceiling behind the light fitting and just deleted the pull cord switch and wires going from pull cord to light. Works great.

Looks a good idea. I still have the original pull cord and was just going to renew it.
