Policy expert/trinity claims HELP

So I have house insurance with policy expert - we have had a leak which has resulted in needing a tiled floor being taken up, shower/shower door/tiling etc all needing replacing. They sent a surveyor out who quoted about half the value needed to do the work. I’m told my only option is to accept the minimal surveyor quote or use their contractor. I have searched the contractor and they aren’t on checkatrade and their Facebook page has been deleted.  I have trusted tradesmen I have used before. They won’t accept my quote/or the suggestion of multiple quotes to highlight the fact they are far out with their value.
I have also contacted QIC who under write the insurance but their London phone number doesn’t work

anyone had any joy in winning with this, I highly recommend never ever using them for your insurance policies it’s been a total nightmare. I have 6 kids and no shower currently

Log a formal complaint about the valuation but also make sure you are comparing like for like... even the "gold" cover is a fairly basic policy and doesn't include matching set cover. As such anything like tiling will be covering what's necessary to do the work and not the rest of the matching tiles (gold offers 50% towards the rest of the tiles). So if your guy quotes for tiling all three walls of the cubical and their surveyor thinks only one wall will get damaged in the process then they'll only be considering retiling of that wall and that will explain part of the difference.

Just wondering if you had any luck with this? I’m in the same position only with a wooden kitchen floor…

Preparing to battle it out with them!

Insurers get preferential rates from their preferred suppliers, as long as their policywordings make it clear on their settlement basis they are entitled to cash settle based on their preferred rates rather than market rates.

As mentioned, their policies dont cover matching sets and so you also have to ensure you're comparing like for like... the preferred supplier will know only to quote for the flooring thats damaged and not the whole floor for example whereas many customers get quotes for complete replacements.
