EDF Energy Monthly Increase, advice.
Hi,
I'm with EDF (Standard Variable tariff) and this month's bill has gone up from £139 to £217.
I did submit a reading just before March 31st, advised by Martin Lewis "By doing this, you can then go to your energy provider and explain exactly how much energy you used before the price cap increase came into effect."
Can you please point me in the direction of my next step?
Thanks

Can you give us your actual usage in kwh, then the more knowledgeable members of the forum should be able to advise whether this increase is realistic or not.0

Is this Bill or DD?
Does the bill show the correct meter readings submitted? Or is it estimated?0 -
That sounds more like your DD has been increased and not a bill.
If you received a bill was it split into usage before and after the 01st of April? And not by estimates but by your reading given? If that is the case there are no further steps from Martin's advice.0 -
It's worth noting that it's good practise to give your meter readings each month to ensure that the picture of your use your energy company have is the most accurate possible - this should help to make sure that the amount of DD they set is also accurate - although at the moment it seems that many suppliers are also trying to lay the ground work for people being prepared for the October price increase.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

nrishiraj said:The following is my statement. That seems pretty clear. you spent £1019 on energy in the last 6 months, and during that time your £139/month payments were roughly £31/month too little so you were £185 in debt at the end of it.Prices have increased since then and they predict you'll spend £1441 in the next 6 months. So they need to increase your payments.
You don't need to do anything, EDF will increase your payments from next month. Can you please point me in the direction of my next step?N. Hampshire, he/him. They have use your readings for the 31st of March, so you were not overpaying on the new unit rates.
This looks like you are also using gas and you did not post the part of the gas bill?1 -
Sorry, forgot to post the Gas section.

Looks like EDF have got it right, some will say "for once"
A further increase will be inevitable at your next review as the cap changes on 1st October and rates are predicted increase by around 50%.
Be prepared for more than £300 a month from January 2023.0 -
As @The_Fat_Controller says.
I calculate £211 for the next 3 months including paying off half the debt. Than 311 for the next 3 months paying off the rest of the debt, and £280 for the 6 months thereafter
Based on 14000KWh gas, with estimated very low use in summer, and 3200KWh electricity over 12 months.
The £400 government grant will soften the this a bit.0
