so Ubisoft Just announced that they are Decommissioning some of there Online servises in September, now this includes brought and paid for singleplayer downlaodable content, the main game will still be available to download and install and play but the downloabable extra content will not which you have to pay for separately this downlaodable content does not have online features or need them, other then to download the content, if you can download the main game why not the extra content you paid for.
do i have any rights here as a consumer, as some one that has purchased this content and now losing access to something i paid for

Their terms say
"4.1 General. We do not guarantee that the Services will be available at all times, in all locations worldwide, and/or on all devices. We do not guarantee that we will continue to offer any Service for any minimum period of time. We reserve the right to terminate all or part of the Services at any time."
So it's unlikely they will hand any money over easily.0 -
thats fine and all but downloadable content isn't really a service its a product just like the game its self its basicly extra game so if the game is a product why is DLC not a product, im not paying a monthly fee for it, and they are keeping the main game still available to download and install, and DLC does not need an online service to be used or accessed in the main game, just needs to be downloaded just like the game does . . .

This thread from partway down page two, although about Amazon, covers many of the issues you raise.bloodevil said:so Ubisoft Just announced that they are Decommissioning some of there Online servises in September, now this includes brought and paid for singleplayer downlaodable content, the main game will still be available to download and install and play but the downloabable extra content will not which you have to pay for separately this downlaodable content does not have online features or need them, other then to download the content, if you can download the main game why not the extra content you paid for.

The main game is available because it is self contained, the DLC requires an account/server verification which is the thing that is being taken offline. All those games are 10+ years old though, so will it really have much of an impact?bloodevil said:thats fine and all but downloadable content isn't really a service its a product just like the game its self its basicly extra game so if the game is a product why is DLC not a product, im not paying a monthly fee for it, and they are keeping the main game still available
That being said there are plenty of ways around this now as these games were cracked many years ago so it should not really present any issue.
From a legal standpoint they are covered by the EULA.3 -
One problem with buying anything that requires online access to use it is that access can be revoked at amy time.0

It is not without being online, you can play the game offline once installed, but any reinstallation will not be possible offline.bloodevil said:MattMattMattUK said:

You do not have to pirate it, you already have a license, you just apply a patch.bloodevil said:

The choice is up to you, they have the full legal right to withdraw the verification service and online services to games which are all 10+ years old. You can either accept losing access to the DLC of a game which in all likelihood you will never play again, or, if you wish to play it with the DLC there is a way around that, which whilst not official, is legal.0 -
a slight correction - you paid for a licence to play.
Read the T and C of that licence to see if it runs in perpetuity or if they are allowed to terminate it.0
