I tend to leave the phone off the hook until the message has finished in the hope it is costing the company.......0

The reason i asked is because i have been getting them as well.
I was doing a bit of searching around about them, and dug up some very useful information about them on Google Groups. This tells you whose behind them, how to complain, and how to annoy them etc. There are three seperate threads there.
To find it go to Google Groups Sign in/ Or Join and Sign In.Then go to the UK Telecom Group. Then search for and read the following.
1. Just won cruise phone message.(Dated 3/5/05)
2. Pennyphone and Luxury Florida Cruise.(Dated 11/5/05)
3. Latest Florida Vacation Phone Spammer.(Dated27/5/05)
Happy reading.PF.0 -
Caller Display is quite useful for sifting out these calls. Sometimes they show "withheld" while others show "unavailable" indicating an overseas call.
The advantage is that you can decide to ignore all withheld calls, or pick up without speaking. As for being ex-directory, it isn't much help where they have a machine dialling random numbers in turn. It is certainly time that such calls were regulated, and there was a way of rejecting them automatically.0 -
Caller display no good for me as I run a business from home, plus several family members have automatically witheld numbers....
The calls are No. 3 - latest Florida one. Will check out the google groups over the weekend0 -
Since my now removed Onetel answering service went belly up and advised every caller that "the number you are trying to call is not listed!!!" I've not had one of these calls. It used to be evey day and evening I'd "won a holiday" or a "cash prize" - marvellous0

Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0
