Cabin bag only check in question

May sound a daft question but I haven't flown with just a cabin bag for over 30 years.  We are flying to Rome with Vueling in September Space One seats which allows us a cabin sized suitcase in the overhead locker and a smaller bag under the seat, given the fact that we will have checked in online and have our boarding passes do we still need to go to the check in desk or can we just go straight through security?

If you have a boarding pass & meet all the bag requirements - go straight through security. 

I do that regularly. 

Just occasionally security pre scan will send you back to check in for something ( like a visa check) but that seems unlikely in your case.

As long as online check-in is working then just go straight through security. 

Travelling hand baggage only is very sensible given the current delays at airports. On arrivals you can just walk straight past the luggage belts and leave. Just remember the limit on liquids and other items not allowed in the cabin.
