Chase Reward Scheme

I referred Mrs B to chase so we both get £20
Her account is finally opened today and to get the reward, she (we) need to enter the code she was sent when I referred her.
As hard as we can look, we can't find it.
Does anyone know what form this referral was in? Text? Email?

Help!

The code was included in the reward section of the app but that's now disappeared.

Did you send anyone a link, via email, text or WhatsApp (etc) ? If so and you can scroll back or retrieve the message you sent (or check with the person that received it) then the code was tacked on to the end of the URL. Look for 'code=...'

What if the referral was just word of mouth? A bit sharp of Chase to remove the code from the app

There are quite a few things wrong with Chase but the ending of the promo wasn't one of them. There was plenty of warning in the app that it would end.

Yes - they did warn the promotion was coming to an end but, to be fair, there was no indication that you needed to make a note of the referral code because the person who you referred would need it again in a month's time :D

My take on this issue would be that, in general, referral links should make any referral process simple and you shouldn't have to manually input a code. The fact that someone applies for an account via a referral link should be enough and having to provide the code again separately at a later stage essentially makes the initial referral link unnecessary.

I wonder how many calls Chase customer service have been getting from people asking for their codes ?!

It's free money. Not sure why we should think we can demand that they cater for the inability of some of us to handle a straight-forward process to get the money.

I read back through the thread and can't see anyone making any demands. Yes, the process of making the initial referral was very straight-forward but if it had worked properly (ie. like every other referral scheme I've ever taking part in elsewhere), there would be no need to have to input the same referral code again many weeks later - weeks after the code had been taken away from the sender.

If I hadn't clocked the code at the end of the referral link I sent nearly a month ago at the time I sent it, then I would probably have had the same question as the OP so I can appreciate the need to ask and I bet they've not been the only person to be caught out by this. Anyone who needed the code again while the scheme was still running wouldn't have had this issue, of course.

Thankfully, the problem should be resolvable without much effort for most people once you know the trick, so it's all good.
