Hi,
My gf and I where together for 9 years, an 8 months ago we had a child, since the child was born we have been at each other and ended up spliting up.
I like with my mum and she lives with her mum, we both work. She wants to move into a flat/house as the place she lived is only really 1 bedroom and its too small.
I look after my child 3/4 days a way and pay what ever is needed. But she wants me to pay for her rent as she says its my baby and do you want them to live in the gutter, when she moves into a new place, but Im not living there.
I said Im sure there is some kind of benifit she can get to help with the rent as I cant afford £750 plus all the other costs for the baby.
What is this called and can she just apply is there any special things needed to claim this benifit? Her friend get the benifit but she works too.
What would this be called? universal credit?
HOpe you can help

She would maybe qualify for Housing Costs on Universal credit if she is entitled to that depending on her income but it is unlikely to cover all of the rent and you do not have to pay it.Try a benefit calculator like Turn To Us and enter potential rent costs.0
